The American Curl is called the "Peter Pan" of the cat world because of it's kitten-like personality through it's adult life. They love to run and jump, they almost have a bit of a dog-like personality. The breed aws discovered in 1981 when a cat with strange curled ears appeared on the doorstep of an American couple. They decided to breed the cat because they thought she was beautiful. You can find the breed in many different colors because they have a large gene pool; the couple didn't want to breed it with a pedigree cat so they could prevent diseaeses that many cats of that breed got. There are long haired and short haired varieties. As kittens they are born with stright ears, the ears start to curl after about 3-5 days. American curls are great family cats because they are great with kids and often have bright, happy, playful personalities. The breed doesn't get sick often because they have a big gene pool; they are generally healthy cats. I think I would love to have one of these cats because they seem playful and friendly.
